Spring fort, Pytte!

Today I finished reading SPRING FORT, PYTTE! by Ingrid Flygare. Three days ago, I was reading DU ÄR BÄST, PYTTE! also by the same author. Both books were borrowed from the Huskvarna bibliotek.

SPRING FORT, PYTTE! (Run fast, Pytte!) is a story about being the smallest of the lot and overcoming fear. Pytte is a 4-year-old Shetland pony. He lives at the Granbacken stable with three other horses named Sonja, Jumper, and Attila. Together, they have so much fun and are very supportive of one other.

Du är bäst, Pytte!

I've just finished reading DU ÄR BÄST, PYTTE! by Ingrid Flygare. It's a fun children's book I borrowed from the Huskvarna bibliotek. I read it twice.

DU ÄR BÄST, PYTTE! (You're the best, Pytte!) is a story about not losing courage even if you do not succeed in the beginning. Everybody is talented in their own ways and Pytte soon finds this out for himself!

PMI Sweden Chapter

I joined the PMI Sweden Chapter today! I'm also currently a member of the Malaysia and Singapore Chapters. I think joining the Chapter is a great way to keep myself up-to-date with materials relevant to my work AND improve the mastery of my Swedish language.

Swedex Exam: An Update

Today's the day! I sat for my Swedex A2 test.

On hindsight…Short-circuiting the timeline to proficiency to sit for an exam may not be the wisest thing to do. It certainly was brave of me and I was being a bit of a daredevil, but so too is the higher probability of fail rate.

Swedex Exam

Sometime in August this year, I mentioned my plan to sit for the A2 certification by Swedex a year from now (in 2018). Well, there's been a slight change of plan—I'll be sitting for it in a few days’ time on 19 December!

My rather last minute exam application to the Folkuniversitetet in Jönköping, Sweden was successful (didn’t expect that to happen!) and I paid the exam fee yesterday.

Swedish Made Easy

This—my friends—is an awesome course. If you are interested in learning Swedish, I highly recommend it. The Swedish Made Easy, 6-day course is very easy to follow and the instructor, Felix Lättman is a joy to listen to and watch.

In this engaging course, he scripted the lessons and selected one candidate, Shien Zutshi from Canada, to learn 1-on-1 with him for 30 hours.

My Swedish Homework

The above assignment is from page 12 of the book, Swedish Tutor. My goal is to attempt all the writing exercises and post them here. This is my första (first) homework from the första chapter of the book for niva (level) A1/A2. Until the next läxa (homework), hej då (bye)!

My 2009 Conference Presentation

This is a presentation I created in 2009 when I was invited as a guest speaker at an international conference in Singapore organized by the Asia Business Forum (ABF). It was an all-expense paid trip and I got to attend the whole conference too. My topic was CAREER PROGRESSION FOR PAs AND EXECUTIVE ASSISTANTS.

Åh nej, Bruno!

I bought ÅH NEJ, BRUNO! more than a year ago while I was in Stockholm. It was the first week of March and super cold. I was strolling around town in the near 0°C temperature and ended up in a small bookshop (surprise, surprise!) in the Stockholm Central Station. This lovely, orange-colored board book stays on my bookshelf until today and I finally felt that it is time. It is time I try to read it with my limited comprehension of Swedish.

Big Magic

BIG MAGIC by Elizabeth Gilbert is a joy to read. Mail on Sunday says the book is “brimming with positive ways to think about creative living.” Huffington Post says “I have profoundly changed my approach to creating since I read this book.” Harper's Bazaar says “Gilbert demystifies the creative process, [...]” and I, Alice Teh, agree wholeheartedly with everything that has been said.

I say please read this book. Gilbert encourages us to face and accept our fears of creativity. She encourages us to [...]

SwedishPod101

I took a two-week break from Swedish language and now I'm back! I joined SwedishPod101. The most recent module I completed is called Getting Started with SwedishPod101.com and it contains 10 lessons.

My 31 Practices

I’m currently reading MY 31 PRACTICES by Alan Williams and Steve Payne (illustrated by John Montgomery), and have just finished the chapter Habit. At the start of the said chapter, the authors are talking about the Hook Model (Trigger/Action/Variable Reward/Investment) and the Habit Loop (Cue/Routine/Reward). Towards the end they provided an illustration of the approach.

I decided to “test drive” the concepts by adapting them in the context of my Swedish language learning with Duolingo.

Kedi

The day for me to watch KEDI at The Projector has finally arrived. Tucked away in the Golden Mile Tower, The Projector is a hidden gem. It's also one of my favorite spots in Singapore. "Kedi" means cat in Turkish.

At 4 PM-ish I bought a pint of draft beer at the Intermission Bar and promptly deposited myself into the Green Room.
